ABOUT US >>
I grew up with a fishing pole in my hand. Ive used everything from the trusty cane pole and spinning reels, to fly fishing, and those dreaded open faced casting reels.
Growing up in southern California suburbia, my fifishing holes as a kid were quite limited. Thankfully dad had a "work hard, fish/hunt harder" mentality so we lived a very outdoorsy lifestyle. We never missed an opening day for trout season in Mammoth Lakes. There were Baja trips where we would target every bill fish there is. Rooster fish blowing up piles of bait and sun kissed days catching pompano in the surf after the morning bite.

By the time I had moved to Hawaii in 06, I THOUGHT I had enough fishing experience and knowledge in my life that i could tackle Hawaii waters with ease. Boy was i wrong.

After 2 years of trial and error, plus asking the right questions I caught my first what i consider REAL fish in Hawaii. You can see it in the photo below. After perfecting what I learned and discovering a few tricks of my own, it seems I made it look easy because it wasn't long till people were asking me where they could rent a pole.

I saw an opportunity to give back by educating anglers of all ages some proper fishing techniques and etiquette for Hawaii waters. I rented equipment for a time and offered guide services but after the pandemic I decided to switch gears towards an even more pono or sustainable approach.

My goal is to make this site a wealth of information. However just like when I did my guided trips, you will have to do a little thinking for yourself.
